Sponsored by: Performer: Tony Guerrero Since his first solo release in 1988\, Tony Guerrero has established himself in a variety of areas. His work as a contemporary jazz flugelhornist\, trumpeter\, composer\, and producer has garnered him both critical success and a worldwide audience. He has toured the United States and much of the world as a headliner in major jazz festivals\, concert halls\, and clubs and has enjoyed commercial radio success not only with his own releases but with music he’s written for other artists. To date\, he has released twelve solo CDs\, some of which have charted on the Billboard Top 20\, as well as a variety of special releases. He has appeared on around 200 albums as either producer\, composer\, arranger or as a musician performing on either trumpet\, flugelhorn\, piano\, guitar and more. Guerrero’s work as a musician and composer can also be heard in movies and on television. Guerrero’s resume reads like a who’s who of contemporary music. He’s worked with a diverse roster of artists\, including jazz legends Freddie Hubbard\, Tom Scott and Joe Sample\, rock icons Brian Wilson\, Paul McCartney\, Slash and Billy Idol\, pop sensations Chance the Rapper\, The Jonas Bros and the quadruple-platinum soundtrack to Disney’s High School Musical\, as well as Hollywood icons Dick Van Dyke\, Jane Lynch\, Merv Griffin and more. Lia had her start singing in the college vocal jazz ensembles Singcopation (Mt. These experiences included several recording projects and appearances at the famed Monterey Jazz Festival and other notable concert venues\, and culminated in two Downbeat Magazine Outstanding Soloist awards. DESCRIPTION:Members Only Event: Learn h ow to access exclusive member events and programs today! Discover Crystal Cove State Park through a new lens during this immersive beginner friendly nature photography workshop led by renowned naturalist\, educator\, and photographer Bob “BugBob” Allen. The evening will begin with an indoor presentation and discussion focused on the fundamentals of nature photography\, including composition\, lighting\, observation\, and finding compelling natural subjects. Participants will then head outdoors alongside Bob to photograph Crystal Cove’s scenic coastal bluffs\, native coastal sage scrub habitat\, and Historic District during the soft evening light of golden hour. Designed for beginners and casual photographers alike\, this workshop emphasizes creativity\, curiosity\, and learning to better observe the natural world rather than technical camera instruction. Camera types are limited to digital devices\, including smartphones\, mirrorless cameras\, and DSLRs. Participants should already be familiar with the basic operation of their device. Following the outdoor photography session\, the group will return indoors for a collaborative photo share and discussion. DESCRIPTION:Performer: Ken Garcia Ken Garcia grew up in San Bernardino\, California and was surrounded by diverse musical influences\, from Hispanic to Polynesian. By the age of five\, Ken’s uncles frequently encouraged him to play his guitar at family gatherings. Recognizing his strong desire to perform and musical potential\, his parents eagerly invested in his future by providing him with guitar and piano lessons. Yet\, formal lessons could only take Ken’s raw talent so far. He began teaching himself the art of guitar playing with assistance of books and hands on experience. As his talent and confidence developed\, Ken began playing school functions as well as private concerts for friends and family. Ken often fondly notes a smile that his most rewarding performances of this era were those for his father\, Ramon\, and his construction buddies after a hard day’s work and a few cold beers. Around age of twenty Ken was faced with the difficult decision of pursuing a career in music or following in his older brother’s footsteps and becoming a dentist. Recently married and wanting to start a family\, he opted for dentistry. Upon graduation from Loma Linda School of Dentistry\, Ken started a successful practice in Fontana California\, close to where he grew up\, which he sold prior to opening another new office\, Island Dentistry\, in Laguna Beach California in 2002. All the while Ken retained his passion for music playing lead guitar with various bands in clubs throughout Southern California and especially in Laguna Beach where he has resided with his family for over 30 years. Ken differs from other artist in numerous ways. Not only has he maintained an impeccable dental career spanning nearly four decades as well as compiling an impressive body of work musically\, including 5 CD’s\, and live performances that legends are made of. Ken has opened for\, toured and played alongside with national act musicians such as Jack Johnson\, Ben Harper\, Donavon Frankenreider\, Pato Banton\, Jackson Brown\, Marshall Tucker Band\, Henry Kapono\, Lee Rocker\, Lukas Nelson and the late Dick Dale. The list can go on and on. Ken has always sustained a solid reputation in whichever community he has called home. Ken’s contagious love and zest for life shines through in whatever task he undertakes. Whether he’s performing dentistry\, playing music\, surfing or spending time with his wife Jody of 45 years or his children Lea & Tayber. Ken gives no less than 100% of himself\, 100% of his time. Ken’s multifaceted lifestyle is easily recognizable in his music\, be it a soothing melody to provide a healing touch\, a rocking jam to lift the spirit\, or a simple strummed lullaby to put his daughter Lea or son Tayber to sleep. Ken’s music is a combination of soulful folk rock with a Latin and Hawaiian flavor. Under the guidance of our experienced instructor Vinita Voogd\, create a beautiful one-of-a-kind print! Using a variety of colorful handmade papers and botanicals\, students will learn the basics of monoprint and overprint techniques in this creative printmaking class that connects art to nature. Beginners and all levels are invited – take home your finished masterpiece! All supplies and complimentary wine or beverage are included. Reservations required. Must be 21 or older to participate. Meet the Instructor Vinita is an accomplished artist and experienced printmaking teacher with over 40 years of experience. She studied art at the College of Art\, University of Delhi and later majored in printmaking at UCI with the acclaimed artist John Paul Jones. Vinita has taught all levels of printmaking at Golden West College and Saddleback College\, as well as numerous workshops at universities\, colleges\, and print studios both in the US and abroad. She is also actively involved in the art community\, serving on non-profit boards and committees. With a focus on the power of line\, color\, pattern\, and texture in her artwork\, Vinita continues to inspire and teach others from her working print studio in Mission Viejo. He has recently been writing and recording new music\, sharing new songs at local shows\, and receiving a positive response from crowds.
