Although John Wayne had fired Robert Mitchum from his film “Blood Alley”(155)\, they enjoyed working with each other. The opening credits feature the Western paintings of Olaf Wieghorst\, a Danish-American painter who also has a role in the film as a Swedish gunsmith named Swede Larsen .
