Come out to Gypsum Canyon\, part of Orange County Park’s Irvine Open Space Preserve\, and start your hiking journey\, or continue your existing one\, on the right foot. Hiking 101 will help you understand gear\, build your knowledge and skills\, and provide tips to assist you out on the trails. We will lead you through the basics of hiking: defining your hiking goals\, packing appropriately\, understanding and minimizing risks\, and practicing proper trail etiquette. The activity will include a packing demonstration and a hike through our wildlands. No experience is necessary for this activity. Please note that you will be asked to adhere to the following measures in order to participate: Be registered in advance\, no walk-up registration is permitted. Arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail\, including water\, proper attire\, and closed-toe footwear\, first aid\, health needs etc. Restrooms will be available\, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival at the staging area and before beginning the activity. This morning hike will guide visitors through beautiful hills and valleys to the top of the infamous red rocks and past a model airplane field. Spectacular views of Irvine Lake and the Irvine Ranch Open Space will be enjoyed along the way. Participants must be able to hike 6 1/2 miles with an elevation gain of 1100 feet at an average moving rate of 3 miles per hour. SUMMARY:Summer Concerts in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Bring your blankets\, lawn chairs\, and picnics\, then sit back and relax to the sounds of summer! This FREE summer concert series features live bands. This event features excellent entertainment\, twilight swim\, food trucks\, and community partner booths. Food trucks and pre-entertainment will start at 6:00pm. Concerts begin promptly at 7:00pm.  Parking will be available at the park\, 7520 Dale St. Lots are located at the front of the park and the baseball fields towards the back of the park. Please note that parking can be conjested during the concert series. Carpooling\, walking\, biking\, and use of taxi/rideshare is encouraged. SUMMARY:After Work Fitness Hike on Paved Hicks Haul Road
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Wednesday night in OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space for a fitness-focused hike on the paved Hicks Haul Road. During the spring\, summer and fall\, hikers will enjoy wonderful sunset views and a panoramic overview of Orange County. This hike travels about 3.5 miles\, up to the top of Loma Ridge and back down. The hike is conducted at an average of 3-3.5 miles per hour\, but you may travel a bit faster or slower\, at a walk\, run\, or jog depending on your comfort level. Most participants finish the route in about 1 hour. Because of the paved surface of the road\, you may wear regular running or walking shoes. Trail shoes are fine\, but not required. Please bring adequate water. Please note that you will be asked to adhere to the following measures in order to participate: Be registered in advance\, no walk-up registration is permitted . Arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail\, including water\, proper attire\, and closed-toe footwear\, first aid\, health needs etc. Restrooms will be available\, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival at the staging area and before beginning the activity. Additionally\, in an effort to respect and protect all employees\, volunteers\, and participants\, please do not sign up or attend if you are not feeling well\, exhibiting any symptoms of illness or have been in recent contact with someone who was ill. Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-3 activity on the land.
